Basically peeps can someone give me a decent answer on what bows are gr8 for what builds. For example what is the best bow to use in a splinter barrage build?

There is a chart there that says the firing rate.

Recurve bows are best for interupting as they have the least fly time.
Longbows are for pulling due to their huge arc and distance.
Shortbows have the fastest firing rate but the least range.
Hornbows are the same cept they have 10% armor penetration.
etc.

Recurve bow would be best.

Shortbow would give the most attacks allowing splinter to do aoe damage quicker but you would have to be really close to the fight. I suggest recurve like Covah. But here is an idea. Take a longbow to hit people running from you recurve for normal fighting and short if a warrior comes right up on your ass.

Recurve for normal use.
Longbow / Flatbow for owning NPC's.

You have a choice of 5 types of bow

Flatbow has longest range and highest refire rate but the arc of the shot is high
Longbow slightly less range longer time between shots lower arc
Recurve similar to longbow but arc is very low almost flat
Hornbow has I think the longest time beween shots but has an inbuild armor piercing ability.
Shortbow shortest range good refire rate.

Its all down to what works for you and your build

My personal view
Use a flatbow to pull targets from mobs, otherwise only use it if you use skills that flatten the arc and speed up the arrows because then its an awsome bow.

Longbow is a general purpose bow average all round
Recurve is good for interupting builds
Hornbow could be used with a sundering bowstring to get to heavily armoured opponents but I havnt experimented on those lines.
Shortbow for close combat.

Bows I carry
Zealous Flatbow I use it with barrage or splintershot
Icy recurve for interuptions
Vampiric shortbow
Fiery Longbow.

If you go R/E you can use conjure element or to boost damage so conjure fire + fiery bowstring.
R/Rit you could use barrage and splintershot as you mentioned.

Another good one is Practiced stance which can increase a preparations duration so for example you could keep choking gas going as long as you wanted.

There are good articles around that give specifics as to bow range arc arrow flight time etc worth a look if you want to really research it.
As ever Guildwiki is the place to start just don't read the mission guides they will spoil the storyline for you.
